Collection of Scientific Papers “Bioactive Compounds, New Substances and Materials”

“Bioactive Compounds, New Substances and Materials” / Edited by A.I. Vovk.

The book presents the work of staff members of the V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as scientists from other institutes and universities, based on the materials of the 37th Scientific Conference on Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry (June 16, 2022, Kyiv). The scientific articles are combined into two sections devoted to the synthesis and study of bioactive compounds, as well as the study of new substances and materials and their application. The first section discusses the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and biological activity of organic compounds. Particular attention is paid to in silico modeling of the properties of potentially bioactive compounds, the study of the mechanisms of action of synthetic and natural bioregulators, and elucidating the relationship between the structure and activity of new substances. The second section presents the results of theoretical research and practical scientific developments related to fuel and lubricant materials, catalysts for petrochemistry, new polymer compositions, potential sorbents, and more. The book is intended for a wide range of specialists in the fields of bioorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, petrochemistry, and the chemistry of high-molecular compounds, as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students.

Monograph “Synthesis and Bioactivity of Functionalized Nitrogen-Containing Heterocycles”

Synthesis and Bioactivity of Functionalized Nitrogen-Containing Heterocycles / Edited by A.I. Vovk.

The monograph discusses methods for the synthesis of, and some issues concerning the bioactivity of, functionalized nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds. In particular, it discusses the synthesis of new five- and six-membered heterocycles and their fused derivatives using chlorine-containing 2-aza-1,3-butadienes, the synthesis of polyfluoroalkyl-containing pyrroles and pyrrolidine-series alkaloids, the synthesis of 7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidines, pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazines, and spirocyclic pyrimidine-2,4,6-triones, as well as the reactions of O-acyl-substituted structural analogues of thiamine. Particular attention is paid to the properties of heterocyclic compounds in in silico and in vitro model systems, the study of inhibitors of certain therapeutically important enzymes, and the search for and creation of plant growth regulators. The book is intended for research scientists specializing in the fields of bioorganic, organic, and medicinal chemistry, as well as lecturers at higher education institutions with a chemical-biological profile and postgraduate students.

Recommended for publication by the Academic Council of the V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the NAS of Ukraine (minutes No. 15 dated 13.12.2021).
