Specialised Academic Council

The V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the NAS of Ukraine has a specialised academic council D.26.220.01, which accepts for consideration and conducts defences of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Chemical Sciences in the specialities 02.00.10 ‘Bioorganic Chemistry’ and 02.00.13 ‘Petrochemistry and Coal Chemistry’.

Documents to be submitted for the defence of a thesis at a Specialised Academic Council:

  1. Notice of the defence of a thesis by a candidate for a scientific degree (the notice form is provided below).
  2. A statement addressed to the chair of the Specialised Academic Council requesting that the thesis be accepted for consideration, indicating whether this is the first time the thesis is being defended.
  3. A photocopy of the first page of the applicant's passport (2 copies).
  4. Personal data form П-2ДС, approved by Order of the Ministry of Statistics of Ukraine No. 343 dated 26 December 1995, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on 28 December 95 under No. 484/1020, with information as of the date of submission of documents to the Specialised Academic Council, certified by the signature of the head of the personnel service and the seal of the main place of work, with a photograph bearing the seal of this institution (2 copies).
  5. Copy of Master's (Specialist) diploma (2 copies).
  6. If the higher education document was issued by an educational institution of a foreign state, a notarised translation of the document into Ukrainian and a copy of the certificate of recognition of the foreign education document issued by the central executive body in the field of education and science should be additionally provided (2 copies).
  7. A copy of the certificate of change of name (2 copies) if the applicant has changed the name.
  8. Certificate of completion of the candidate exams in the form approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 01.03.99 No. 309 ‘On approval of the Regulations on the training of scientific, pedagogical and scientific personnel’ (with amendments).
  9. Extract from the order of admission to postgraduate studies if the candidate for the degree of Candidate of Sciences completed the postgraduate programme.
  10. Conclusion on the scientific and practical value of the dissertation, issued by the organisation where the dissertation was written or to which the candidate was attached (2 copies). The conclusion should be made as an extract from the protocol of the meeting of the department (interdepartmental seminar, laboratory, division), signed by the head of the department (head of the seminar, laboratory, division), as a rule, a Doctor of Science, approved by the head of the institution and stamped with the seal. The conclusion, along with other aspects of the dissertation and the candidate's personality, should indicate who approved the dissertation topic and when and specify the candidate's specific personal contribution to all scientific works published with co-authors. The conclusion must contain information on the bioethical review of the dissertation research (for candidates for degrees in medical, biological and veterinary sciences). The conclusion is valid for one year from the date of its approval until the dissertation is submitted for consideration to the Specialised Academic Council.
  11. A review by the scientific supervisor (scientific advisor) with an assessment of the applicant and their work in the process of preparing the dissertation, certified by the seal of the scientific supervisor's (scientific advisor's) main place of work.
  12. The dissertation is prepared in accordance with the established requirements, in a quantity sufficient for the examination of the dissertation by the Council preliminary review committee and official opponents. One copy of the dissertation shall be submitted to the library of the institution where the Specialised Academic Council accepted the dissertation for defence no later than one month before the defence.
  13. An abstract of the dissertation, prepared in accordance with the established requirements and signed by the author on the cover.
  14. Monographs, author's certificates (copies), articles (copies), printed abstracts, reports and other materials of scientific conferences, congresses, symposiums, seminars, and schools (copies) listed in the abstract. If copies of scientific works are submitted, they must contain accurate and complete source data of the relevant publications. Copies of scientific works should be submitted on paper and certified by the signature of the Scientific Secretary.
  15. CD-R or CD-RW compact disc (3 copies).
  16. Conclusion of the expert commission – 2 copies.
  17. Form F-24 (information about opponents) – 2 copies.
  18. Conclusion of the bioethics commission – 2 copies.
  19. Reviews of opponents – 2 copies.
  20. Reviews of the abstract
  21. Stenogram – 2 copies.
  22. Draft conclusion of the Council – 20 copies.
  23. Distribution.
